The Toronto Vascular Centre (TVC) is pleased to be associated with Dr. Daryl S Kucey, who serves as our Medical Director.
Dr. Kucey is a respected Vascular Surgeon who has been in practice for over Twenty Years at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto. He is a Past President of the Canadian Society for Vascular Surgeons. He is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. Dr. Kucey has had numerous publications and presentations at National and International Meetings and continues to be intimately involved in the training of Medical Students, Vascular Residents and Vascular Fellows. His current research Interest is the Management of Type B Aortic Dissections.
Dr . Kucey received his undergraduate and medical training at the University of Alberta, where he graduated as a medalist and Graduation Class President. He interned at The Toronto East General Hospital and then completed the Gallie General Surgery Residency Training Program at the University of Toronto. During this time he also earned a Masters of Science through the Institute for Medical Sciences at the University of Toronto. He then completed the Vascular Surgery Residency Training Program at the University of Toronto, and a Masters of Public Health from the Harvard School of Public Health before accepting a Staff Surgeon Position at Sunnybrook. Dr. Kucey has received numerous undergraduate, graduate , and post graduate awards for academic excellence, research, and teaching. He has been granted membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
Dr. Kucey provides Expert Consultation Services through the TVC.
He has developed particular expertise in the treatment of Complex Aortic Pathologies including Aortic Aneurysms, Thoracoabdominal Aortic Aneurysms, Aortic Occlusive Disease, Aortic Dissections, and Traumatic Aortic Injuries. His career experience with these pathologies is extensive. In addition, Dr. Kucey has a comprehensive experience in the treatment of Carotid Artery Occlusive Disease and upper and lower extremity occlusive and aneurysmal disease. He is an expert in the management of Traumatic Vascular Injuries.
Dr. Kucey is facile with all available vascular surgery techniques including open and endovascular approaches to vascular pathologies. He is an experienced Hybrid Surgeon.
In addition to his arterial practice, Dr. Kucey also maintains a busy venous practice.
Dr. Kucey was one of the first surgeons in Canada to embrace endovenous techniques for the treatment venous disease. He is an expert in Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA) and other Endovenous techniques.
